Lake George (or Weereewa in the indigenous language) is a lake in south-eastern New South Wales, about 30 minutes drive north-east of Canberra along the Federal Highway heading towards Sydney. Lake George has long had a reputation for mystery. It's an unusual place where the water comes and goes, and it draws visitors to its vast, wind ruffled surface. Lake George is a phenomenon. It has been known to disappear virtually overnight.

For the past 25 years it's also drawn wine growers and winemakers, and more recently, the annual "Weereewa A Festival of Lake George".
